- Who We Are
The Three Rivers Historical Society is made up of dedicated volunteers who are preserving the history of the Southwest Valley in the greater Phoenix area.
The cities of Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Tolleson have grown at the confluence of the Agua Fria, Salt and Gila rivers.
We offer meetings and public exhibits - collect artifacts, photos and rare documents - and have an active program to record oral and written personnal and family histories.
- Our Meetings
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month - except July and August - at 3 PM. featuring an informative presentation on Southwest Valley history.
Our normal location is room 117 at Goodyear City Hall, 190 N. Litchfield Rd. Please check this web site for special locations.
- May Meeting - May 15

- Centennial Project
Three Rivers Historical Society has received approval from the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department to develop a historical
and educational trail at Estrella Mountain Regional Park, incorporating visual and artistic structures that will depict the history of the region.
The half mile, ADA accessible trail will follow a yet to be determined old Hohokam canal or old braid of the Gila River and include numerous
displays highlighting our area's history. The "canal" will run with water from the aquifer directly below the site.
Historical and educational features such as sculptural markers, benches, kiosks and exhibit nodes, will be created and installed.
These features will describe and depict the geologic history of the Estrella Mountains, explain the history of the Hohokam people and their culture,
provide information on the first explorers and settlers of the region, discuss important historical events, and track the the effect of agriculture, industry
and war on the economy of the Three Rivers Region to 2012.
